[Salesforce Spring ’23 release] Confusing display of dynamic activity composer for logging contact attempts

Description

As part of Salesforce’s Spring ’23 release, the default display for the activity composer in Case records, which is used to track contact attempts, has been changed from a tabbed view to a dynamic view. (For more information, reference Salesforce's release notes.) With this update, the “Add” text on the button to log a contact attempt has been changed to a phone icon while the label of the activity composer shows “Log a Call” instead of the custom “Contact Attempt.” These changes can be confusing to users who want to log a new contact attempt, which may or may not be a phone call.

Steps to Reproduce

Prerequisite: Be in a Komodo Care Connect environment with Spring ’23 features enabled.

  1. Navigate to any Case record page with an activity composer, such as an Activity, Missing Information, or Request record page.

  2. In the activity composer, notice a phone icon button instead of an Add button.

  3. Click the button. In the dialog box that opens, notice the label shows “Log a Call” instead of “Contact Attempt.”

Workaround

Manually revert the dynamic activity composer back to the original tabbed activity composer by following Salesforce’s instructions.

Note

The label in the dialog box that shows “Log a Call” instead of a custom action label is a Salesforce known issue.
